Don't know who called me: What do I do?
I have been sending out a ton of cold emails during the summer as part of my networking efforts. Few people have asked me for my number which I gave them. I got a call from someone today but due to bad reception, couldn't understand most of what was said (especially his name). We set up a time to speak tomorrow. I emailed the person who i though was the most likely person to call, but he said it wasn't him. Now I have no idea who I am talking to tomorrow.
I don't want to call the number back and ask for the name. What the hell should I do?
play it cool, ask about background and stuff and if you've done your homework on the guy, after he starts talking you should have an idea who it is.
edit: if he called from work just google the phone number
that's the plan. Also, googled the number and i think i know which bank he is from, still not sure.....
But hopefully will be able to figure it out during the call. Thanks!

This is one of those funny situations that you would never anticipate, and I feel for you, OP. Next time, just ask if you can give them a call right back and try to find better reception.
Regarding your current situation, I would wager that it's likely not an analyst, since almost all analysts prefer email to phone in conveying logistics. Maybe that can help you narrow it down. Since you think you know the bank, do you know anyone else at the bank personally? They might help you look them up in the directory. Lastly, you could borrow a friend's phone and call the number back late at night (and pray it's a desk phone and goes to VM), and that would tell you who it could be.
I should have called back immediately and no its not an analyst otherwise I would've been a bit more comfortable asking. I'm going to calling from a different phone and see what happens.
Haha, that reminds me of the time I applied to about 50 internships and on one of the ones I got called back for, the guy said "Name, I saw your resume and I thought you would be a great fit for this company", and I had no idea what company it was and the reception was awful, so I went through the entire thing not knowing the name of the company or even what I was applying for.
