Drake star partners reputation? All offices
Just wondering the reputation of this boutique given old threads seem outdated and hard to come by on this site. I believe its a Tech focused boutique in the MM space.
Any thoughts and insights appreciated for all offices (NYC/LONDON would be most helpful)
I worked at a niche tech focussed pe firm. One of the partners there is a well seasoned guy (came back from retirement) and was also a founding partner of a well known UMM fund in London during his times. His son works at Drakestar now and according to this partner, the experience that you get there is top notch. The king of responsibilities and the visibility you have at a junior level is amazing. That's as far as I got to know through him.
I think the exists should mostly be into growth shops or vc shops, or at the best lmm pe funds. If that's your thing, then Drakestar should well position you, given their more than decent deal flow.
Thanks for this mate - very detailed and helpful. Any other insight to deal flow and quality? I heard their is also a PE/Merchant banking business at the firm - not sure how this works out. Did the partner also mention anything about culture and other general career development points?
Appreciate it again

Don't know much about the team or bank besides for the fact that they are exclusively TMC.
However, I had an interview scheduled with them and was completely ghosted. Nobody from HR or the group let me know that they wouldn't be able to make it. I was ready, prepped, researched the bank and their deals..and then...nothing. If this is how unprofessional they are I want nothing to do with them. After all, you hear so much about professionalism attention to detail and the rest of the bulsh*t in banking, yet this was the first giant red flag about what type of shop they are.
You sound unusually butthurt from being turned away from a tiny shop
Sucks to be in that situation but you could’ve interviewed and still gotten declined regardless
Nah fuck that, know your worth. If a company does that, that's a red flag. I once had an interview at a boutique with a reputable name and they left me in the conference room for too long and each interviewer would cycle in for 15 minutes and not really have questions to ask me and then leave me waiting 30 mins for the next interview. This took hours and was a waste of my time and I wrote them off after my 2nd interview of that day out of 5. Imagine if they didn't even show up? Fuck no. Intern, let this be a lesson to know your worth.
They're a meme at my MM firm but seem to be fine, lot of cross market stuff it seems
Meme firm?
Can echo this - DS has a reputation for being a bunch of clowns at my MMPE firm as well
Perspective from a first year analyst working here: shit is like the jungle, you work nonstop for your survival. It’s going bad. You act nice for what; just to have your MD tell you to “look alive” when you get in the office?
They’re doing doing it wrong but for a boutique that started from the bottom you have to be used to this.
I’m still here though so maybe I should just laugh now and cry later. I’m just not sure what’s next, given the weak exits.
Can I pm you?
