Duke Markets and Management Studies Certificate - Views?

How is the Markets and Management Studies Certificate viewed on the street? I had never heard of it until the pre-business department pitched it to me last week. It seems like it tends toward a more business-esque degree (its a certificate not a major or minor)since business degrees such as accounting or finance are not offered at Duke. Would it be better to major in economics and get a certificate in MMS, major in economics and statistics, major in math and get a certificate in MMS, or major in economics and math?

Hedge fund would be eventually what I would want to do. But if that isn't feasible out of undergrad either banking/S&T would be fine

Reality hits you hard, bro...

If you want to do banking it doesn't matter as much. For trading though and especially hedge funds out of undergrad a math/stats background is a huge help.

Major in what interests you though, you've got freshman year to figure it out.

It really depends on what you want to do...if you just want to do banking major in econ or anything else with MMS and get a high gpa. you will be golden. If you want to do HFs then it helps to either 1) be a math genius and ace the putnam/do serious research or 2)double major in econ and math/physics/engineering with good grades to stand out from the econ majors.
