Dumb Excel/CapIQ Formatting Question
Ok, so I got EBITDA margins from the CapIQ company tearsheets, and the EBIT margins from the CapIQ formula builder. The former is just formatted as a percentage (5.2%); the latter is automatically formatted as a number (5.2). So, when I go to reformat the EBIT margin to a percentage, it spits back 520% rather than 5.2%, obviously.
Is there a quick way to reformat to display 5.2% w/out having to go to each cell and multiplying the # by .01? Or, is there a quick way to multiply a whole column by .01?
custom format to:
0.0"%"
The quotes around the percentage sign will make it not convert the number into a percent, but rather will just place the sign at the end of the existing number
Thanks a lot, that will save me a lot of time.
part II.
If you want to multiply an entire column by .01 (or divide by 100):
this saves you creating a new column step.
well first of all you don't have to go to into each cell, you can simply create a new column, make it equil to .01 times the original one and paste-->special values back into the orginal.
Alternatively you can custom format the entire column, but not sure exactly how at this point.
