I think taking some time off over the summer is pretty standard, yep. Try to coordinate with other people in your team so there's sufficient overlap (which helps you as you then don't need to work through your holiday)

Thanks! Yeah I was just a bit concerned because I was planning to do the week of July 4th and it seemed a bit early

Would not take PTO until 6 months in and if it’s 1 week+ definitely wait a year.

Thanks since my official start date was in December and thinking of taking the Monday to Thurs of July 4th weekend hoping it would be okay.

Some contrary advice. If your firm isn’t super mega hardo, take whatever time you need.

You will regret not attending friends wedding or seeing family. One extra day off on a Monday or doing a Thursday-Sunday will not ruin your career.

I find it absurd but then again, my group is relatively chill and not everyone has a 6 foot rod of ego up their ass

Do you think the previous Friday to Thursday of July 4th week would be too long?

For my team, no. My MD is a solid guy and wants us to take breaks. Especially to see family or friends
