ECM exists
Hello all,
Like many first year analyst, it has been terrible and I think about getting out everyday, but won’t without a offer in hand. But also plan on being picky even though life is pretty miserable atm with WFH and banking.
I would like to know what exists they are for an ECM analyst. I dont want to stay in banking and I have a very strong interest in long only Funds, asset management, maybe trading (I interviewed for a Junior trading spot, they stopped the hiring for Covid but liked me enough to get me into ECM banking) I’ll def be holding out till the summer for my bonus at least and want to know how I should go about trying to get into a long only fund, asset management type of investing. In ECM, we dont do any modeling so I’m already trying to learn that on my own.
Thanks.
And for those who think or say ECM has it easier. We are working just as many hours as coverage.. well at my bank anyways. Was actually pretty hyped when I learned ECM have it easier....not the case with WFH
ECM focus on relationship mgmt while M&A focus on execution. At the end of the day, It doesn't matter since it's all about perceptions. Many people exit to UMM never modeled before
