ECM Internship

Hi,

I am joining a top tier BB as an intern in ECM for a couple of months and am wondering what exactly I will be doing during those months.

What comes to mind:

- Market updates
- Maintaining a database of IPO, Follow-on discounts and other relevant metrics
- Working on IPO prospectuses

Anything else?

Thanks

Yes - I spent 3 years in ECM with a BB in new york - you will do a lot of market update slides / contribute pitch materials related to execution (think roadshow, deal layout, account targeting etc) to IPO and FO pitches and maintain / distribute both databases and weekly market updates both internally and externally. You will not work on IPO prospectuses - that is largely done by the IBD folks / perhaps some senior ECM input. You will also assist in deal execution. Most of the strategic and pitch work on a deal is done by the coverage / M&A bankers and ECM's time to shine is really when the deal is executed - you will help streamline execution and compile investor feedback.

PM me if you have specific questions. Not that you asked, but I didnt have a great experience and wouldn't recommend ECM as a full time opportunity unless you really wanted to be in ECM longer term.
