Elite Boutique, Industry Specificity
At a bulge bracket, analysts and associates are placed into both product and coverage groups.
At an elite boutique (Moelis, Centerview, Rothschild, Evercore, Lazard), do you get placed into a 'group'? The boutiques are pure advisory, so it'll be either M&A or restructuring.
Would you be placed into industry specific M&A, or just generalist M&A?
I realize this could vary from firm to firm.
Like you mentioned, it varies from firm to firm. Evercore, for example, has a generalist summer analyst/associate program and then has a 3 month period when you start FT where you're still generalist before then picking a group. Not sure about the rest.
