Email MD or no?

Hello everyone. I have a super-day tomorrow for an IB analyst position, that I got partially through networking. However, it turns out that the MD that heads up the division is an old neighbor of mine that my family vaguely knows/knew (as in I think once or twice I played with his kids, and I know which house is his, he would know my parents, etc). Would it be inadvisable to send an email introducing myself? Is that networking TOO hard? I already have an email drafted up but I wanted a second opinion.
