Email Networking - Staying Connected with Contacts?

I am looking for some advice on how to stay connected with contacts made through networking via cold email.

When I first started recruiting for IB roles, I only used LinkedIn and found that responses were slower and I was unable to follow up with people if they didn't accept my initial connection request. Thus, I switched to email networking and I was able to have more success with outreach as I learned that bankers are always on their emails, whereas they might check their LinkedIns once in a blue moon.

However, now I am running into the problem of staying connected with old contacts. There are some people I have chatted that have moved firms and whatnot, and I could go out of my way to find their new company's email format and email them, but I realized if I had just added them on Linkedin I could potentially message them on there way easier.

With that, how would you recommend adding old contacts on Linkedin that I have chatted to in the past, and is it even worth it?

My outreach would look something like this:

"Hi (CONTACT). This is (NAME), we chatted (X TIME) ago during the (BANK) recruitment cycle. I realized that I never connected with you on Linkedin, and would love to stay in touch on here. Thanks again for all the support and guidance you gave me. Have a great day."
