Emailing within a company

I am currently interning at a fortune 100 and found on our intranet today some information on our investment management subsidiary which manages the company's capital. I was hoping to email the CEO and set up an info meeting as I am genuinely interested in how they operate and what they do. Is this acceptable or a big no no? Should I go through the person in charge of the intern program and see if they will set it up?

Help appreciated.

depends on the firm's culture

i interned at a BB where an intern emailed the CEO. his manager was very made (although he, along with some other interns, got to meet the ceo bc of it). however, his manager was PISSED

When I say CEO I don't mean CEO of the whole company, I meant CEO of the subsidiary, he is the CIO of the main company. I could email someone lower down? Perhaps a VP?

Even if it's the CIO, it's still way too risky to lose your FT offer over this

But as I said before, if you don't want to work at the fortune 100 you're interning now (it sounds like you want to go into something more finance related), you have nothing to lose...

If you do decide to drop him an e-mail, make sure to check with your direct superior/manager first! His or her opinion is far more relevant than mine anyway

Thanks, yeah I am a sophomore so there will be no FT offer and I am more interested in IB than corporate finance. I will check with my direct supervisor and then I will go through the HR woman in charge of the internship program, the Company is fairly close knit and I think he would be willing to talk to me.

I should add the guy also went to the same high school as me....
