What are you emphasizing? That doesn't make sense, you network to get the interview...obviously you networked to get there from a non target already...once you're in the seat it is all up to your performance. If you have a shitty interview but you networked with a ton of people that won't matter at all.
I think what the OP is trying to ask is whether or not it is appropriate to talk about who you've networked with inside the firm during your interview.
I'd say go for it. It would make for good conversation, and remember, networking is hard work and you want your interviewer to know you worked hard to get the interview.
The flipside is (what PnL touched on) that it's ultimately up to you to do well in the interview to get an offer. In the end, networking only gets you so far. If you don't perform during the interview you won't get the position. The playing field is level on the day of the interview; everyone has an equal opportunity, regardless of whether you networked with an MD, an analyst, or nobody at all....
