Employee Referral on Online Application
When applying to IB roles online, one of the questions asked is how did you hear about this opportunity and one selection is "employee referral". Should you write the name of the person that you had a good connection with on a networking call even if you don't know if he/she is willing to refer you or should you just leave it blank and email the employee that you applied?
Essentially, is networking with analysts (without asking for a referral) enough to push your resume or do you have to blatantly ask for an employee referral?

bump, would love some insight on this

I ask if I may use their name. I only ask them if I think we're close though.
Not completely sure but I believe this is different from an actual referral where an analyst/associate actually forwards your resume to HR. You can shoot them a quick email if you had a good conversation about using their name and I believe that isn't the end of the world. I'm not sure if this is an actual referral though.
