Ending Interviews..
Hi Everyone,
I've sent many emails and applications this fall in hopes of an internship opportunity for the summer. I received some responses and phone interviews, but toward the end of each of my interviews, I was always asked whether I had any questions. I'd always find some questions to ask (People have told me that you should never say you don't have any questions because it shows a lack of interest). However, the problem is that the interviewers would repeatedly ask me whether I had any further questions. In the case of one interview I had, I had asked 4 or 5 questions, and the interviewer was still asking if I had any more. (Was he jus being polite, and in truth wanted me to shut up and end the interview? (Since he’s probably a very busy person. Or did he actually wanted me to ask more?)
Do you guys have any suggestions for how to approach this kind of situation? (and approximately how many questions I should ask per interview?)
I’ve also received many email responses from recruiters saying that they won’t be able to offer me a position this summer due to the fact that I’m a freshman, but encourage me to keep them updated with my progress or keep in touch with them and reapply in the future. In this case, how should I go about “keeping in touch?” (an email a month? Or every three months? Suggestions for the context of the emails?)
I’m sorry for all these questions. I’m really new to this and have much to learn.

I'm still in college, so take this as you will -
As a freshman, unless your dad is CEO of the bank it is my understanding that you have about 0% chance of an SA position. That being said, way to be proactive at such a young age.
At this point, I would guess that they are giving you interviews in more of an informational basis. As far as questions, I would just come out after a few good questions and say "Do you offer summer positions to freshman?" This is a good wrap-up question, and it will show your interest as well as give you an idea of what to expect.
As far as staying in touch with the recruiters, I would send them a reply and say something about appreciating their time, bla bla bla, and then something like "since you don't offer summer positions for freshman, can you refer me to any banks that do?" something along those lines...

thanks for the advice, is it customary for most recruiters to end with, "keep in touch with me" or "message if you have any questions"?
1. Don't ask bankers if they offer summer internships to freshman (that's what HR is for)... definitely don't ask banks to refer you to other banks...
2. There is no need to "keep in touch" with HR people... the email was a generic response.

I usually just ask, "So at this point, what are the next steps in the process?" Thats's essentially my way of saying, "Ok, I've asked all I need to ask, let's wrap this up."
More often than not though, I've had my interviewer say they needed to get back to work, and essentially ended it themself.
