Energy Coverage - Toronto / NY

I am interested in energy in Toronto/ NY but I have no idea what the teams are like.

Is most Energy origination done in Calgary / Houston offices for Big 5 Canada and BB U.S.? I enjoy energy, just not entirely sure it's easy to recruit for those roles without living near the Calgary / Houston office or if there are even opportunities outside of those offices.

Would also appreciate any insight into exit ops from energy, I've heard once you're in it's pretty difficult to move around.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Current energy IB analyst. Most if not all true energy coverage (O&G) will be in Calgary and Houston.

PE exits will naturally be more energy focused but think there's a renewed sense of interest in O&G given macroeconomic environment but think you can usually parlay this experience exits into the broader ET / PUI / Infra coverage as well which opens up a whole variety roles you could exit to.

If you aren't interested in doing energy for PE you are better off going to a group that more closely aligns with what you are interested in doing since it is more of an uphill battle from energy -> non-energy.
