Energy sector having the highest M&A fee?
Here are some data from the Financial Times. I'm surprised that the energy sector has the highest fee, even more than tech. Why do many people think energy is shrinking? Any thoughts?

Deals going on in almost any market cycle... and they're usually bigger than other sectors. It's not always pure M&A there is a lot of A&D as well.
.
Not necessarily "worse" but very different...it is usually done by a different segment of an energy IB group and is largely comprised of engineers.
.
To reinforce your presumed desire to join M&A based on your title, M&A is far superior for banking.
From my understanding A&D is extremely technical and very different from normal IB, it filled with engineers who came from industry and did Ivy MBA's vs. UG business grads.
Financials looks higher to me...
Not highest fees, just a lot more consolidation and so a lot more deals, the article doesn't have average fees per deal.
But it seems like the total fee is the highest.
