Excel issue driving me insane

Has anyone else been dealing with this? Not sure if it's an issue with my machine or some bungled Microsoft update.

Over half the time I am entering a function I know well, I get a #NAME? error because Excel is suddenly too slow to search itself to predict which function I am going to use quickly enough. For instance, if I am doing a vlookup, I type "=vlo" and then hit tab. The cadence is muscle memory. In the past this reliably would get me exactly what I wanted, a cell with "=VLOOKUP(" primed and ready for me to do some boring ass data manipulation. Now I have to literally stop typing and wait to hit tab while I watch the little dropdown search through the functions that start with a V, then VL, etc. It's not exactly slow, but it used to be basically instant and now it's not.

I don't think I'm magically typing faster. I don't think I've started allowing my spreadsheets to bloat to the point of file size being an issue. My laptop is less than a year old and has 32 GB RAM. Has anyone been dealing or ever dealt with something similar? Between this and an office move next to my CEO, who watches TV all day on his laptop without headphones, I'm going to go insane.
