Exit opps/ Lateraling from LMM IB?

Is it possible to get to Growth Equity, VC, or LMM PE from LMM IB? I just got hired a bank that's HQ in London but is focusing more deals in the U.S in NYC and SF. Is it likely I need to lateral up for a decent exit or do miracles sometimes happen from these shops? Secondly if Lateraling what are common practices for getting interviews lateraling up, places like EVR, HL, Centerview or Moelis. Thinking I may want to aim for SF to increase my chances.Of course this is a case by case question.
