Extended Disability Leave - ok?

Has anyone ever had to request leave for an extended period of time due to surgery/illness (6-8 weeks)?

Would this cause your job to be in jeopardy or bonus to be affected? I know disability generally prevents loss of job but worried about reputation.

If you're going to lose your job because you took care of a medical condition - you will be better off fired. Seriously - the market is hot enough right now where 2nd year analysts are getting bid up to $125k bases at Boutiques, with guaranteed bonuses.

Long time boutique (tier 4) employees are being offered spots from BB's as they need people experienced looking for banking as a career path - in turn, the smaller boutiques lose their institutional knowledge and have to overbid for a junior from a BB

Longer the cycle lasts, the better for everyone.

And, even if the talent market tanked tomorrow - health comes first.
