Extended Disability Leave - ok?
Has anyone ever had to request leave for an extended period of time due to surgery/illness (6-8 weeks)?
Would this cause your job to be in jeopardy or bonus to be affected? I know disability generally prevents loss of job but worried about reputation.
I have and no, it doesn’t. If it’s a legit reason (I.e surgery) not one can hold against. Life happens, man!
Yes.
Took 3+ months off. Even the most aggressive and difficult MDs were ok with it and very supportive. Anyone who has an ounce of compassion or humanity understands that health comes first.
If you're going to lose your job because you took care of a medical condition - you will be better off fired. Seriously - the market is hot enough right now where 2nd year analysts are getting bid up to $125k bases at Boutiques, with guaranteed bonuses.
Long time boutique (tier 4) employees are being offered spots from BB's as they need people experienced looking for banking as a career path - in turn, the smaller boutiques lose their institutional knowledge and have to overbid for a junior from a BB.
Longer the cycle lasts, the better for everyone.
And, even if the talent market tanked tomorrow - health comes first.
2021… good times.
I am currently on leave myself and interested how it ended up for you?
