If you can get an internship at a random boutique, that would probably be better, but I guess it's better than nothing. As a sophomore, BO at a bank might also be better. Neither it nor the CF position will give you much in the way of transferable skills, but at least the bank will be a good networking opportunity.
I thought a Top-Company internship on resume was a really good thing to have for IB recruiting. For example I heard GE FMP is a very good thing to have on resume and can lead to interviews.
Why would a non-ib job be better than an ib job if your ultimate goal is to get an IB job?
