Facebook Compound

For some reason, I find this so creepy.

I get that not everyone hates their worklife as much as bankers do, but even if you work at a place that makes you giddy with delight, why would you want to live in the middle of all your co-workers?

I imagine Zucks walking around with his toes hanging 3 inches over the end of his Adidas flip flops... with all the Facebook followers vying to get their dogs to mate with Zucks' in the communal dog park.

they're building an apartment complex...big fucking deal. it's open to non-fbookers too, you guys are ridiculous.

If the glove don't fit, you must acquit!

All but 15 of the 394 units will be open for non-employees.

I could be incorrect but I think those 15 units are specifically reserved for low income residents. I think the bulk of the apartments are available to anyone, although I'm sure FB employees will have priority or incentives.

I could be wrong though.

Although the amount Facebook is paying developer St. Anton Partners to provide the below-market-rate apartments is not being disclosed, city Senior Planner Deanna Chow said the company would have been charged about $4.5 million if it had opted to pay an in-lieu fee.

The 15 units will be priced for households with incomes that do not exceed 80 percent of San Mateo County's median income, adjusted for family size, according to a legal document between Menlo Park and St. Anton Partners, operating under Anton Menlo, LLC. The 15 units will include two studios, eight one-bedroom units and five two-bedroom units, according to the document..

I think it would be pretty nice for people moving out there for work. You probably don't know anyone out there so it would be nice to be near work with like minded people. It's probably going to be akin to freshman dorms where after a year or so people will move "off campus" with the good friends they make.

Where's the kool aid stand going to be?

"Yes. Money has been a little bit tight lately, but at the end of my life, when I'm sitting on my yacht, am I gonna be thinking about how much money I have? No. I'm gonna be thinking about how many friends I have and my children and my comedy albums."

I'm with you OP, I find it kind of creepy. I get the convenience aspect, but it seems a little too much like serfdom for my taste.
