If they say they didn’t see on background check you could say it was unpaid thus not on your taxes…

Not saying you should lie - but I’ve had unpaid internships before and they don’t / can’t really check it. If the background agency can’t find the company, they don’t press on it like that. Usually you say on the online form if it’s paid/unpaid, and it’s assumed if unpaid, it’s not gonna show up anywhere (ie. W2, etc), so they move on to something thats actually in the system, like chase bank. You should be fine. But don’t lie like this, it will come back eventually someway. Good luck though!
