Fall/Spring Boutique IB Internship Advice

Looking for any individual with experience in attaining an off-cycle, school year part-time internship at a boutique IB/PE (or frankly any other financial service related company) to shed light on the process. Specifically, is now (early/middle June)  the best time to start cold emailing? How technical are the interviews (is BIWS 400 Q's good enough?) and how many interviews is typical (1 or 2, I assume?). Are you usually able to choose whether to be remote, or do firms require face time in office? Any insight is appreciated. Thank you.

There is no uniformity across boutique IB/PE, some firms will only give you a shot if you cold email and some will reach out to specific clubs looking for interns. Every firm is different from the interview process, wether they want in person or remote, paid vs unpaid, and if it is sourcing or actual deal work, there is really no standard at that level. Probably start emailing a couple months before you want the internship. If you are a freshman or sophomore the 400Q will be fine.
