Finance Job Overview

I will be going to college come the fall and I'm eventually looking at a career in finance and have been looking on the internet for different fields in finance (PWM, Consulting, IB, etc) and I was wondering if I could have some help. Websites don't seem to be all that inclusive, so I was wondering if someone could list common jobs in the finance industry for college grads and about how much they work (eg 80 hrs/week) and a rough first year salary including an average bonus (not that I'm doing it for money, but I doubt anybody would be willing to work 80 hrs/week for 45k a year)

Stupid question but how hard is it to get into PE from undergrad? Do you usually need IB expierence?

Go back to the FAQs and keep reading. You certainly came to the right place though.

The answer to your question is 1) network 2) get involved 3) beef up your resume 4) repeat -happypantsmcgee WSO is not your personal search function.
 

As bfin said, go back to the FAQ's and do a search function on the topics already in the forums/databases. Chances are if you are just coming in to undergrad, you won't have a specific enough of a question to warrant a new thread (meaning its been asked before).

Also, just some friendly advice, take more math classes/some computer science classes at first to see if you do well/like it. I was a finance and econ double in undergrad but still wish I had done more of the above classes to gain an edge.
