All of the suggested books above are solid. Add the following.
Everyday, first 1-2 articles of WSJ on Markets, CFO Journal, US, and World will also help tremendously. Just get a feel for the biggest stories.
In the long run, a really good valuation textbook goes a long way. Valuation by McKinsey is what I have from school, but there are others.
The Market wizard series is very good to show that there are loads of successful asset/money managers and traders that are very unique in personality. Just helpful to see that you don’t have to fit one mold.
