FINRA Arbitrator

Today I received an email from FINRA asking me to submit an application to be an arbitrator.  This is the first time I heard about this and that they are openly recruiting.  After I told them I work for a public company, they said that was ok I just need to disclose everything.  This is really random to me as to why would a governing body say it's ok to have someone who works in finance be an arbitrator.  If anyone is an arbitrator or has any experience with this, some advice is definitely appreciated.

Thanks!
