First year no live experience

I am a first year in a BB style coverage group. Haven’t touched anything live and it doesn’t seem like there’s anything in the pipeline, just endless pitching.

It was good to ramp up with low stakes at the beginning.. but I’m approaching 6 months and it feels like I have nothing to show for it and am not learning. Is this just representative of where the market is, or should I be looking for other ops to avoid falling behind my peers?

Unfortunately just the way it is right now, don't think you are having an unusual experience... and even if you were the lateral market is very challenged right now. No one is doing deals when they'd have to issue 5-7%+ debt.

Would just try to sign a PE offer in offcycle sooner than later, and then finish up your second year and get out. Unfortunate time to be an IB analyst learning-wise, although you probably have a much better lifestyle than your 2020 peers so not the worst thing.
