For Post 8PM Requests Let’s Normalize Responding: “Will take a look tomorrow”
If we are starting to get paid like a normal Finance role, we should treat it as such. Take the nights off to yourself.

The contrast between “this is perfectly normal corporate behavior” and “this is outrageous in banking” is hilarious
Not to glaze our IB overlords or drink the koolaid with too much enthusiasm, but... are we getting paid like "normal finance roles"? Last i checked, analyst salaries are 2-5x that over "normal" post college entry level jobs...

DEI Beckies already do this
I actually found it very rare for someone VP+ to drop something completely new in my lap after 8pm and asked me to turn around some type of analysis / thoughtful response first thing in the morning. Associates maybe but yeah fuck what they think (unless it’s confirmed a senior wants that same timeline over Email)
More times than not you get wind of something possibly being due later around 4-5pm as a heads up, then if anything you get a follow up at 8 that we’ll actually need this item the next morning. Or you’re being asked to do something “routine” before a 9am call the next morning that’s been on your calendar for a week.
I say all this to say, yes in the rare case that you get a late night email to turn around a brand new 4 hour analysis by 9AM, you should push back - but more times than not, that’s not really the case. The right answer is: Confirming receipt, by when would you want to review this tomorrow? Unless you have some meeting the next AM, you’d be surprised how many times you have at least to the early afternoon to complete it. Just my 2c
Lol where the fuck are you working? I get mark ups from VPs well into the early AM, expecting to see it the next morning
