Foreign language in IB Energy
Thinking about doing energy IB (oil and gas). Does speaking Russian (native) + Spanish (fluent) significantly help with internships / recruitment or does it just flat-out not matter?

Spanish may help for doing South American deals. I've seen job requirements at infra funds ask/require Spanish but haven't seen anything for Russian.
Thank you!
Russian is useful in due diligence these days given all the sanctions lol
😎 love using global politics and unstable leaders to propel my career
Thanks tho!
Can comment as a Houston Energy Banker who is multilingual. If you find yourself here as one might in Energy IB, colleagues will 'oo and ah' for about two minutes, but it is unlikely you will ever get to put your languages to use in a deal setting (sadly, I sympathise). Not a lot of Russian spoken in the Permian these days ….London is another story altogether, where second languages are often a precursor to employment with certain groups.
