From Analyst 2nd year in MnA to a Sales position...is this path possible in the U.S?
I have been reading this forum for a while and I must say that some post and comments are hilarious and at the same time pretty relevant.
My question is simple: Do you or any of your friends have been working in MnA and switched to a Sales position.
As people get fired in my department, I am seriously considering doing that, even though I am aware that it is not going to be easy.
My only chance is that I have a good connection, but I don't want to ask him directly. I would rather have some examples before.
Thanks!
Honestly, you need to define sales here. Are we talking becoming a trader? Are you looking to do wealth management? Sales is extremely ambiguous and without more direction as to what you want to do, it's hard to offer any advice.
I was thinking about salespeople who are selling specific complex products to institutional investors or LP's.
I see them at the trading floor spending the day working the phones, calling clients from the moment the financial markets open until the moment they close, as well as for several hours before and after.
It may sound strange but I don't find the excitement I was looking for now that I am working in MnA. Things move slowly and I realised that when you don't have a REAL M.D.(with a large network), you may have done a real smart pitch and have spent three full day on a pretty good valuation, nothing will happen.
My whole point is that I hate being dependent on other's performance, I would rather have a job where it is your own skills and your own ability to be persuasive, that justify your salary and your bonus.
Those are the reasons why I am now looking to get a Sales position.
