Front or Back office?

There has been recent discussion about jobs being front or back office, or somewhere in-between. I was curious how my offer for the summer is classified: Summer Analyst, corporate finance and more specifically Basel and economic allocation group. Apparently I would be analyzing credit risk on the balance sheet and figuring out where to allocate bad debt. The bank is more of an international bank (think HSBC/DB). This will be my summer between Sophomore and Junior year, hopefully there will be some relevant experience in there to leverage into a SA in IB or S&T any thoughts would be much appreciated. Thanks.

That sounds like credit risk, which is middle office. A friend of mine worked in credit risk at DB for a summer. Said it was boring but managed to leverage it into a full time FO offer with DB.
