Did the screening interview last week. Anyone heard back?
Because the majority of the work comes from the US, the London office has the worst hours of all possible locations. They basically work on the United States East Coast time frame.
Heard London deal flow was better than the US
I just interned there the guy youre replying to knows nothing about ft i dont know why he decided to comment. London might actually be the best office, every big crypto deal that ft has done which is the vast majority of fts big deals flows through the london office and they 100% make at least other US interns working on London deals work on their London timeframe
Any insights as to the exits, FT comp or culture?
Comp as An1 is 110k base and from what i was told by other analysts was around 60/70 for bonus but obv depends on what bucket you are but honestly I wouldn't have the best insights into bonuses as an intern. I remember hearing Analysts mention what associates and above made and i forget the exact numbers off the top of my head tbh but iirc it was slightly above street and seems like a place that will comp you very well if you decide to stay on as a career banker.
Culture was decent at least in my office I wouldn't say that it was bad at all and has improved significantly over the past few years compared to the horror stories that I read on WSO from like 2020-2022 but I wouldn't say the culture was something that would be a drawing factor. It is WFH 2 days a week as a full time tho which is pretty sweet.
Exits off the top of my head this summer were TA, Stonepoint, CD&R and some other good options. But there also seemed to be a decent group of people who didn't get great buyside opportunities. To me it looked like FTP exits better than a MM firm but below a BB/EB and has great exits towards opportunities in its direct coverage group but because fintech is niche it obviously limits the total opportunities you can apply for.
Also deal flow is amazing - that was the part of the internship that honestly impressed me the most about FT as a firm. As an intern I was on 2 live deals and had the option to go for more (other interns were on 3 live deals who requested more work). And full-time analysts were staffed on like 5+ deals sometimes. If you work at FT full-time you'll definitely have a ton of live deal experience to talk about. No pitching either - the Strategic Insights team does all that IBD group is pure execution.
