FT Recruiting & Networking as SA

Currently an IB SA at a top BB (MS, JPM) in a solid group. I have hopes of getting a return offer but keeping my options open. I've started to get approached by PE firms and other banks about FT roles. A lot of these banks have networking/recruiting events in the evening. Is it worth leaving the desk during my SA stint to attend these events? I also have no idea what the timeline is like for FT roles, I've heard July is when it starts up. I would appreciate any insight on how to effectively recruit for FT roles as a SA.
