Gap Year B/C Corona OK?

Hey guys,

Rising Sophomore at target here who is really considering a gap year for two reasons: (1) not fuck up the college experience and (2) prolong graduation in hopes of a stronger economy (in that order).

Would this be negatively perceived when applying to IBs? I would be hopefully doing some finance related internships in the time I do take off.

"Intern in IB-M&A" Imagine taking a break because you won't be able to smash some cheeks, top BB think (GS,MS,JPM) simp shit

Smash some cheeks = copulate

Simp shit = fawning over (typically) a woman/women in general, seen as a very emasculating / effeminate trait & this phrase is used to question manhood/masculinity

Imagine taking a break [from school] because you won't be able to copulate with women [due to the coronavirus], top BB think GS, MS, JPM [will think] that you're just fawning over women and are emasculated

It won't be negatively perceived as long as you don't leave any gaps on your resume. Having done so myself pre-COVID without a problem, I can only imagine it's even less a problem given everything that's going on. I encourage you to think about the gap year in terms of "I want to achieve xyz" rather than "because I want to avoid xyz" though (also, don't see a point in trying to time the economy three years down the line). In other words, come up with a solid plan first and, if possible, find someone who will hold you accountable and motivated during your time off.

Inaccurate. Interviewers will look at what you did during the time period on your resume. While not all interviewers will be so detailed, you're bound to meet one or two who will pick up on the fact that you took time off.
