Goldman Sachs Background Check Assault Misdemeanor

I accepted an offer with GS as a Summer Analyst. Should I be worried about a misdemeanor assault charge on background checks? Should I write HR an email or wait for the employment application that I will have to fill out to mention it? It is still an active case and I will try to get it dismissed.

No need to communicate this to anyone through unofficial means. When you fill out your preemployment background check, make sure you answer questions related to criminal activity honestly and specifically. If you don’t have it handy, dig up all of your supporting documentation ahead of time and prepare to upload it along with your background check (initial citation/arrest paperwork, and other related courthouse paper work). No one on the recruiting team will need to know unless it meets whatever threshold criteria the background screening team is directed to look out for. Good luck and don’t sweat it too much. Congrats on the opportunity.
