Goldman Sachs Sophomore

Anyone here intern as a sophomore at GS IBD? Wondering how the process is like, how competitive, etc.

Sophomores who interned at other BBs, feel free to weigh in as well.

by the way, goldman's soph program is way too competitive for the likes of you, for the few spots they have, they almost all go to ivy kids. give up now. LEH and CS are way too far out for the likes of you.

why don't you go to a "shitty" bank - you have no idea what banking even is.

I got info about lehman's sophomore rotational but it sounds like another diversity program. Does anyone know of banks that take white male sophomores?

what a stupid question. Of coure they do- you just have to be worth it. I've seen sophomores get into the best regular SA oncampus recruiting.

The whole point of Dedicated-sophomore programs though is to make sure the minority/female kids know of, and apply to, the jobs come junior SA/full time recruiting.

yes devils I'm aware of that. :)

what it does though is it creates awareness of junior SA/full time reruiting opps to other minority/female candidates even besides those who actually participate.

sophomore SA is not something banks prefer to have- it's really a waste of their time and money. It's really just a result of uber-competitive kids trying to break in as early as possible. But if it increases the eventual applicant pool from which to derive talent or increases diversity, than some banks believe it is worth it.

citi and bofa take white male sophomores, i believe...lehman's is primarily a diversity program with a few spots (i heard there was even a freshman)

i think jp might have one.

goldman does not accept sophomores for ibanking - you'd have to do asset management, or something else. if you get an offer back, you can re-interview for ibanking for your junior summer - you get to skip the first round 'fit' interview and go to the second.

congrats on getting the interview as a sophomore-- i second the comment above. mind sharing the how-to's with us? thanks a bunch and good luck on the interview!

I attended GS campus information session. They told us to apply on-line, and I did. Other than that, I have no idea what else to tell you. Oh, somehow I had to apply to both through my school's career center and GS website.

Best of luck to you guys too.

Anyone else? Should I schedule for mock interviews?

I am really puzzled.

I got an email saying that I have an interview on this particular date and that I will be hearing from them soon to schedule for my exact interview time slot.

However, when I accessed my GS on-line application, the status says that I am "declined".

What's up with this? Does anyone have the same problem?

Best,

SoulSearching

LoneStarDevilWe had on-campus interviews this week for sophomores.

Was it a separate process or did sophomores just go through regular OCR first rounds like juniors?

I'm a freshman at a non-target and it looks like I'll have an internship at a boutique IB this summer. I have high SAT/perfect GPA. Would it be possible for me to get BB IBD as a sophomore or no since I come from a non-target?

No not the spring program. Unfortunately, my school's spring break matches up with S&T not IBD :( I think there is one over the summer that you have to get invited to.

People that they like from the spring program can get invited to the summer program and they'll either give you soph summer or junior. Not sure how they decide which
