I have a phone call with an analyst at a regional MM HC IB tomorrow and she’s only giving me 15 minutes. She understands my goals, so I won’t beat around and will plan on getting right into asking about the off-cycle recruitment process, but I want to leave a few minutes for 1 or 2 good questions to get her talking about her day to day.
Anyone have any ideas? What questions make it seem like I know the industry?
I'd say it'll probably open with a brief intro/chit-chat/how are ya today. Then if she doesn't prompt it (she probably will) you'll tell "your story", and then I'd ask her for hers. I'd ask her a question or two about what she says in her story, ask questions about recent deals, ask her about the general dynamics of the team, respond how that fits in with how you operate as a member of a team.
15-Min is pretty straightforward.
BUT ALWAYS ASK AT THE END IF SHE KNOWS ANYONE ELSE IN THE GROUP SHE THINKS YOU COULD BENEFIT/WOULD BE WILLING TO SPEAK TO YOU. Boom, now you've got another phone call soon.
