GPA at non-target for SA28 recruiting

Kind of fucked up my first semester and got a 3.46 gpa, however raised it to 3.73 after getting all A’s my second semester. My major gpa is still a 4.0. Next semester I can raise it to a 3.8 if I get all A’s again. Will I be okay for recruiting?

Based on the most helpful WSO content, your situation is not uncommon, and you are on the right track. A 3.73 cumulative GPA with a 4.0 major GPA is solid, especially if you can raise it to a 3.8. Here are some key points to consider for SA28 recruiting:

  1. Improving Trend: Recruiters value an upward trend in GPA, as it demonstrates resilience and the ability to recover from setbacks. Highlight this improvement in your story during interviews.

  2. Major GPA: A 4.0 major GPA is impressive and can help offset any concerns about your overall GPA. Be sure to emphasize this on your resume.

  3. Networking: Coming from a non-target school, networking is critical. Start reaching out to alumni and professionals in the industry as early as possible. Build relationships and seek advice to increase your chances of landing interviews.

  4. Extracurriculars and Leadership: In addition to academics, involvement in finance-related clubs, internships, or leadership roles can strengthen your profile.

  5. Preparation: Make sure you are well-prepared for technical and behavioral interviews. Consider leveraging resources like the WSO IB Interview Course, which includes thousands of questions and modeling tests.

If you maintain your upward trajectory and focus on networking and preparation, you should be in a strong position for SA28 recruiting.
