Grad school or not? Advise please
To keep story short, here is my background:
Senior from target; GPA: 3.7; major in Financial Engineering; 1 corporate banking + 1 PE internship; a couple of course assistant experiences; No FT offer right now; want to do IB or research
Here are the possible paths I could choose:
1. graduate with a BS -> network -> financial analyst or junior research say in cushman
2. grad school -> network -> IB intern
I was not that into IB in my junior year, so I didnt apply for any summer internship from OCR. I also had some IB FT interview in my senior year, but didnt get any offer based on my poor performance in the interview. Any advice? Thanks a lot
No. No grad school.
Get a job. Worry about grad school later.
If you can get into a top MSF/MiM it might be worth it.
How did you do bad in the interviews?
I think I didnt have enough preparation. I believe my coursework and technical background is good enough to do IB or research, but my limited experience in the industry doesnt allow me to say everything very confidently.
And how exactly is another year of school going to help with that?
Look for work. If you don't get anywhere in a year or so, maybe then consider a masters degree. DO NOT GET AN MBA WITHOUT EXPERIENCE.
Give it six months on the job market while simultaneously preparing grad school applications. Hopefully you get something, but you've protected yourself on the downside. GMAT/GRE is good for 5 years so take advantage of time off to get a good score.
