Great Point Partners (GPP)

Does anyone have any information on Great Point Partners in Greenwich? They are recruiting on campus at my school directly out of undergrad which I thought was surprising. Apparently manage $400M so not a fraud like some other "PE" firms that have tried to post on our JobLink. Has anyone worked for/with this firm or know anything about it? Thanks.

They are definitely not a fraud. They are very good HC investors that have a dedicated private and public equity fund. Their public equity fund is focused purely on biotech and I can't speak to how they have performed, but this fund is bigger than their private equity fund.

The private equity side has a good reputation and they took a company public about a year ago in Connecture. Although the stock has been a dud, any firm that can IPO a business at a decent valuation is far from a fraud. They are well respected in the HC private equity space, but they make a lot of smaller growthy investments unlike some of the other traditional buyout shops that only have a few PortCos. They will do buyouts but that's not their only strategy. At $215MM, their private equity fund is a little smaller than most of the buyout firms you'll run into in HC.

I don't know what analysts have gone to do or what you could do after a few years there straight out of undergrad, but I would imagine you'd get a good experience given they have some very talented investors at the mid and senior level. I see from the bios that a few guys have been there a while so I'd imagine there's upward mobility. The only other thing I'd add is that the commute to Greenwich from the city wears on you after a while, so if you don't mind living in CT, I'd suggest that.
