GS - Data Resources Group

Hi all, anyone familiar with this group? Heard they kind of help out with nuance tasks coming from other office locations in IBD. Also if anyone is familiar, does the group have a high transfer rate and is it possible to lateral internally?

Former GS IBD analyst here.

You are right, the DRG team helps with different kinds of data request, mostly pulling share price charts, trading multiples, ownership data, broker recommendations, financial estimates, precedent transactions (deal runs) etc. to just name a few.

I am not sure it is the easiest route to take if you plan to be in IBD in the long-run, but it is certainly possible. We had one person in our industry coverage team and know of a few other people in other teams as well.

It's relatively random as it will also depend on your networking, but simply but, groups with highest turnover will be more likely to seek hires from inside organization. TMT and Industrials probably have highest turnover, but also attract outside lateral hires, so the higher bleeding may be very well offset. Honestly I'd just be open and flag it to your manager - if you are good and liked by the team, GS usually tries to accommodate.
