Just shilling for no reason. 90% of the departing class just got robbed

Bonuses were pretty great at top groups, not sure what this post is

+1 - Very confused where people are getting the idea that bonuses were anything but insulting, must not work at GS

This is nothing new. This is how Goldman has been paying employees for a long time. It was a partnership. If you wanted to be a partner one day it was about how much you contributed to the partnership. Cash comp is taking. Lower cash comp means you give more and are more profitable to the firm.

Now that it’s public it’s the same concept but with stock. Once you get senior enough to get compensated with stock then it’s really about reducing cash comp to employees (its a bank, it doesn’t like spending money) and then you get paid by a higher stock price and whatever dividends the company kicks out. If you want as high cash comp as possible go into sales and find a high commission role where you can actually make bank. that’s not really Goldman’s thing. People there get rich but it’s a long term play and these days mainly based on stock compensation.

Ask Lloyd Blankfein. He is literally on this forum. Effectively all of his pay seems to have come from stock awards. Last I heard it was like $500mm. Maybe he was quoted in the press as saying you can’t tell him he underpays his employees…

It’s Goldman. No one in common society is going to pity you because you weren’t paid enough. Grow up. Cheers
