Somebody I spoke with who did SA at GS told me they did over hire and that it made it a somewhat less collaborative environment. They said they got a return but decided to accept FT at MS solely because of that. They said MS does not over hire. This person is a senior banker though, so it may have changed since they did SA at GS.

Can second that MS doesn’t over hire SA class and the goal is to convert 100%. A lot of groups have 100% return offer rate. MS stresses collaboration, which id reflected in there being a FT spot for every intern.
