Guide to lateral 2024/2025
Just wondering what the process/timeline would look for lateral recruiting into IB coming from a non-IB role 1-2 years post grad from target/semi-target school (currently at BB) Anyone have some insight?
It’s mostly luck. Lateral hiring is sporadic and you can’t time it. Keep in touch with your network, meet with them in person when you can, and hope that they will refer you for a job. Without having a referral it is nearly impossible. All the roles I got were from referrals from ppl that were key at the firm.
Might be a stupid question but when reaching out do you use personal emails? I dont want to get filtered out but at the same time I dont want to use work email in case I get caught
Send via LinkedIn or from your personal. Not sure why’d you would use your work email for networking…
Obviously fine to send to the counterparties work email.
I was mostly thinking if they get sent to spam or get blocked. Whenever I would try to reply to someone from a gmail account my email would get blocked (granted this was when i was a SA so maybe same restrictions dont apply)
SA restriction I would bet. Ours can’t send files externally
No way Gmail is fully blocked.. many times BoD ppl will use their Gmail when interacting with bankers
Anybody think hiring will pick up soon given that the Fed just signaled rate cuts?
