Suppose you're already working on an H1B at a BB, and your visa is running out. How hard is it to transition to a green card? If they decide to sponsor you, is it common for the application to be rejected? Moreover, is it hard to convince BBs to sponsor you?

from my understanding & observation they only start to file for you close to your H1B expiration date and if you are on VP level
Another question: If you going to banking as an analyst, is there any chance PEs or Corporate will sponsor green card after the 2-year transition?

Our firm traditionally sponsors green cards for more senior professionals, if they had time to show their skills over the years before. Unlikely they would do this for someone they are hiring right now and have never worked with before. Can't say what seniority is required, but VP or up seems logical.
There is a problem that some nationalities have huge wait times for green cards, but most of our staff are from the EU and this shouldn't be a problem (we are a EU firm).
Are associates sponsored GC? Otherwise what happens when they run out of H1B? Are they fired/transferred abroad?
One of our IT suppliers had loads of OPT people and some on H1b, when their visa ran out after a few years the firm let them go or they were "encouraged" to seek a solution (most of them were Indians and they got an arranged marriage).
