Happiest VP level Investment Bankers at BBs?
Just curious - which BB (JPM, DB, GS, MS, CS, UBS, BofA/ML) is the best place to be as a VP/Director level investment banker? Why and why not?
And those who are VP/Director level investment bankers at BBs - how much desire do you have to join a boutique investment bank?
Your thoughts are greatly appreciated!
GS imho
I would have raging hard-ons just at the thought of being one day maybe considered for a promotion to Partner
Also look at the perpetual grin on LB's face
Happy and investment banker don't mix.
MM VP's seem pretty happy.
GS VP's have it extremely rough - the promotion scale to MD is a massive grind. Combine that with the fact that they are changing VP-->MD promotions from 1-2 years, and it's even more competitive.
Obviously regional offices are more lax and are probably less stressful. VP's in NY are pretty miserable - they still work late-ish hours for their age, they usually don't see their family a lot, and they have to make the transition between running deals and actually making calls on their own.
All of that being said, I'd give my left gumdrop to be a VP instead of a junior level banker.
