Have anyone's hours gotten worse during WFH?
Wondering if anyone's hours have actually gotten worse since starting the WFH stint. For reference, I am second year analyst at an EB and have started WFH since last Monday.
I think the crux of the WFH workload issue is related to clients transitioning from in-person meetings to calls: The problem with this is:
- Partners / MDs still are requesting the same "density" of materials
- WFH leads to everything taking longer (slower connection, harder to coordinate, home set-up isn't as good, etc.)
- Clients transitioning is often leading to more client interaction, due to ease of setting up calls and follow-ups, all of which require slides to be created
- The COVID situation means constant real-time macro updates, price updates, and research / news pulls, all of which take time
I was hoping my last few months before I leave for PE would be analogous to senior-year second semester as I transition off projects, but my hours have now bumped from ~60 to ~80ish...
Hey BananaCrazy3620, I'm the WSO Monkey Bot and I am sad to say, but this thread is lonely, so thought I'd post in here to try and help out. Some potential topics that might help:
I hope those threads give you a bit more insight.
Mine have also gotten longer unfortunately. The amount of work hasn't changed materially but the main inefficiency is communication. It's lot easier to shout to shout across the floor than to message/call someone. Also the set up and connection as you mentioned is not as good - I guess all we can do is adapt until things start to normalise...
No commute and having lunch available could be a + but I've been sleeping and eating more so that negates any potential benefits. Ffs.
