Help - Need Transaction Data

Could someone help me out and point me in the right direction for finding a list of M&A transactions that have occurred in the last 5-10 years? I'm helping put together a large data set for a regression project and this would be a good place to start. I have access to most standard databases at school, and might be able to convince the boutique I'll be working for to let me use their Cap IQ account for this as well if it would be listed there.

Also, this data would need to be moved to excel, so if there is a database where that would allow the data to be extracted without manually transferring that would be ideal.

Thanks in advance to anyone that can help me out with this.

What are you looking for? Every single M&A transaction worldwide over the past 10 years will result in a zillion deals, most of which will be nonsense with no deal stats (e.g. price paid, multilples, etc.).

Once you have what you are looking for, CapIQ is your best bet. You can put a number of filters and then output the results to Excel. Keep in mind, however, that the data reported for these deals is not standardized, so it will probably take a lot of scrubbing on your part to take the mess that is the initial output and turn it into intelligible, reliable data. A good set of transaction data takes a lot of effort (most of it mind numbing) to pull together.
