Help please!! I want to get into O&G IB

I am currently about to start attending a semi target state school outside of TX. I have heard that the only way into O&G is if you go to TX. Which the only way into that is if you go to a TX state schools or if you go to a top target school. I wanted to see if anyone had any insight into how true this is and if you can get into O&G groups outside of TX. Also would that be easier to get into? For reference I haven’t been able to find any alumni from my school in Texas IB so I figure I don’t have a shot at TX but if anyone has a experience getting in from a similar situation please share how you did it. Thanks guys

i have known people from out of state get in. you just need to have a good story on why texas and o&g. houston mainly looks for people that plan to stay in Houston and not leave to NYC after 2 years.

Appreciate your comment!! When you say transfer to NY, does that mean for another IB job. I feel like for most people out of state they would have a better chance going to New York to begin with than going to Houston.
