HELP with Recruiting Cycle/Graduation Question

Searched but didn't find any similar topics, here's the situation:

Going into my senior year and have been gearing up/networking for full time IB analyst recruitment. The problem is, I recently found out I most likely will not be able to graduate on time due to major requirements. None of my contacts know this yet.

Question is: do I go through full time recruiting and upon getting an offer, can I delay my start date to December/January instead of June/July?

Or, do I go for another round of SA recruitment for next summer, then go through full time recruiting after that and have to wait another year. I'll be finished with required hours in the 1st semester of the 2012-2013 school year, so I'll be completely done with school in December 2012.

NestoGrandeDefinitely cannot delay your start. You'll have to do SA next summer and then in Fall 12, you can apply for both FT for Summer 13 and you can apply for boutiques who hire year-round based upon need. Then you take the best offer. But if you mention in a FT interview you're not graduating until Dec 12, you don't have a chance.
I'm just wondering why delaying start date is such a no-no. Because of some high school credits, I can choose to graduate in early Aug or Dec so when do you think would be a better time? Thanks!

If I bust my ass and take a schedule that is heavily loaded with upper level econ courses (~18hrs both semesters) I can graduate on time. This will definitely have a negative affect on my gpa though.

Since FT recruiting will essentially be over before all those grades are out, worth it to push for the on time graduation at the expense of GPA? Do banks care that much if my gpa drops a little AFTER I've already accepted a FT offer?
